jagged roots second alternative folk night is at the gallery in kirriemuir on saturday 22nd november when dundee songwriter kerry fowler will team up with multi-instrumentalist robbie ward
aberdeen based kitchen cynics will bring his own brand of experimental - psychedelic folk - which has won acclaim in scotland and worldwide - "they could be joining the likes of the fence collective - lucky luke and scatter as rulers of scotland's skewed folk realm" - beard uk - his albums are available on labels in europe and america
kerry and robbie have been working on tracks for her next ep and will showcase some of the new material at the gallery
having been compared to the likes of laura marling and beth gibbons - kerry has really enjoyed working with robbie - "rob's brought instruments such as mandolin and banjo to my set - which has really developed the direction of my writing - we're really looking forward to playing in the gallery as it's such an intimate venue it feels like you're playing in someone's living room!"
kitchen cynics was delighted to be asked to play the jagged roots night "I don't really do gigs without a p a so this gig is going to be a lot of fun - although I will still be bringing a little practice amp for my programming and effects" - the rest of the night will be entirely acoustic with no amplification whatsoever
the intimacy of the venue is something that appeals to many songwriters so jagged roots and the gallery plan further shows throughout 2009
the gig starts at 7pm and tickets are £10 available from bank street gallery - for further information contact bank street gallery on 01575 570070
