tricia brown
Tricia Brown was born in Tanganyika, East Africa and now lives in Meigle. She draws much of her inspiration from Scotland and its islands generally but from Strathmore and the near-by glens of Perthshire and Angus particularly.
Educated in both Africa and Scotland, Brown studied art at school to "O Level" grade but otherwise would decribe herself as essentially self taught, apart from attendng one or two outdoor sketching classes with Sr. James McIntosh Patrick.
Brown is principally a watercolour painter but enjoys using gouache, pastels, charcoal, acrylic and pen and ink. She is not averse to mixing them in her pictures which are mainly landscpaes or botanical studies.
Notable selections have been by Royal Scottish Academy, Royal Society of Watercolour Painters and the "Dundee 800" Anniversary Exhibition. Such is her appeal, many local businesses have included her work in their collections. Alyth Golf Club's private collection provides the opportunity for public viewing, whilst "The Cultivation of Rhododendrons" by Peter Cox, for which Brown was commissioned to produce line drawings, offers us all an opportunity to examine at close quarters her illustrative technique.
Tricia Brown taught art classes with Blairgowrie Adult Education Association for eight years but now runs classes privately. anyone wishing further information about the clases can contact her on 01828 640384
